The Ellesmere pairs a low, soft-edged base with a tall scalloped headboard, so you get the cocooning feel of a cloud bed without losing height at the head of the room. The channelled upholstery runs unbroken from the headboard down into the frame, which is harder to build than it looks — the panels have to line up across the join, and on a hand-made bed that means measuring against the actual frame rather than a pattern. It is a bed that reads as expensive and is not, because it comes straight from the people who make it. Six bouclé colours, three headboard heights, built to order in West Yorkshire.
